Eric Archer

Eric Archer Condevaux Dahlberg is an interdisciplinary artist, multi-instrumentalist musician, poet, and teacher whose life and work explore the meeting places between creativity, presence, nature, and community.

Rather than treating artistic disciplines as separate practices, Eric moves between them freely. Music becomes meditation; meditation becomes poetry; patterns found in wood become sculpture; and individual expression becomes an opportunity for people to gather, listen, and create together. Across these forms runs a fascination with attention: what becomes available when we slow down enough to notice what is already here?

As a musician, Eric draws from an unusually broad landscape of traditions including contemporary classical, folk, Americana, Celtic, ambient, Indian classical, kirtan, meditative music, and experimental collaboration. He studies tabla in the Farrukhabad Gharana tradition with Sri Suryaksha Deshpande and bansuri flute with Grammy Award-winning musician Steve Gorn, bringing these influences into a musical language that moves between tradition and experimentation.

Eric has taught and performed internationally and has been part of the core faculty at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, where he has taught meditation since 2016 and previously served as Bard/Musician-in-Residence. His explorations of music, meditation, and attention have also taken shape through educational programs, contemplative settings, and collaborations with artists and teachers across disciplines.

His visual art begins with a similar act of listening. Working with natural, found, and reclaimed materials, Eric creates carved and painted wall sculptures guided by the patterns, movement, and histories already present within the material. His spoken-word practice extends this inquiry into language, inhabiting the porous boundary between guided meditation and poetry through imagery, metaphor, visualization, and collective attention.

Eric is Creative Director of Hudson Valley InterArts, an interdisciplinary arts center and community in Patterson, New York, grounded in the idea that artistic expression is part of our shared humanity and can help bring vitality back into our relationships and communities.

Whether through sound, language, material, silence, or gathering, Eric’s work invites creativity out of the category of something made by “artists” and back into something fundamentally human: a way of paying attention, entering relationship, and participating more fully in the world around us.
